My work is a celebration of Nature and the profound connections we humans make with each other and with the animal kingdom.
Taking time out in Nature is the perfect antidote to the demands of modern life that can sometimes leave us feeling fragmented and disconnected.
I have been fortunate to have lived for long periods in Africa, England, Ireland and Australia. My experiences in these diverse places have shaped my arts practice and continue to inform my work.
My background is in the classical atelier tradition and Australian Impressionism. I received my training at the Julian Ashton Art School in Sydney, Tom Bass Sculpture Studio in Sydney, and professional development at the Arts Students League of New York and the Grand Central Academy of New York.
Having spent a lifetime immersed in Nature, it has been my privilege and joy to discover that the natural world is always ready to communicate with us if we are ready to listen.
When I start a new work, whether it is a painting or a sculpture, I search for connection with my subject - what do they have to say, how do they say it, what does it mean to me and what might it mean to others.
Essentially, I look for that precious relationship between living beings, seeking that dialogue between the subject and the viewer that soothes the soul and allows us to experience the joy of an unfolding relationship.
My hope is that you will experience that connection and feel the power of Nature communicating with you through my paintings and sculpture.
Will you find that there is more connecting us than there is separating us ? I hope so.
Enjoy looking through my gallery - if you see something you like, please contact me. I would love to hear from you.
